When Covid hit, I was looking for ways to be helpful.
I offered three pieces of jewelry in exchange for direct donations to a nonprofit organization called Mantena, based in Newark, NJ.
Mantena is a nonprofit organization that has been helping the Brazilian community in Newark for sixteen years in many different ways: psychological support, medical care, support groups for cancer patients, after-school programs, music… the list is enormous.
During the early days of Covid, Mantena was in emergency mode, helping so many families with basic needs, preparing food baskets, and cooking daily meals. There were hundreds of families that had lost their incomes and did not qualify for government support.
My goal was to transform some pieces of my jewelry into food and basic products.
