15th Anniversary

Every piece of jewelry I make has a story.

This one started in July 2020 when my husband gave me fifteen small rubies to celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary (ruby is the traditional stone for the occasion). It might be hard to believe, but since I became a jewelry designer, I had never designed a piece of jewelry for myself. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted, maybe because seeing the rubies in their little box was such a sweet reminder of my husband’s thoughtful gift. I decided to do a “locket pendant” so that I could preserve the memory. I like simple things, but I also like new things, and I like to play with movement and evoke joy. So I went for something a bit more interesting. This was such a collaboration with my model maker / CAD design partner @virtual_jewelry who worked really hard to figure out how to keep these rubies floating. I also added a diamond to represent our (one and only) son. The round pendant has the same format as my husband’s wedding band. The overall look reminds me of an old-style pocket watch that my grandfather would let me play with when I was a little girl. It is rose gold to honor my beautiful goddaughter Rose. Isn’t it amazing how many wonderful meanings one small piece of jewelry can hold?
